FAQ

Straight answers.

The real questions people ask before they trust us with their books — answered honestly.

Does TaxSignal replace my accountant?

No. TaxSignal is an informational tool that finds potential savings and explains them in plain English, each cited to HMRC guidance. Your accountant does the regulated work — preparing accounts, giving advice, and filing. We're the tireless first pass that makes sure nothing's missed; they're the professional who verifies and acts. Many of our users share their TaxSignal findings straight with their accountant.

Isn't all this HMRC guidance public anyway?

Yes — HMRC's manuals are public. The value isn't access, it's analysis: cross-referencing all 80,000+ sections against your exact figures, continuously, and surfacing the handful that actually apply to you — cited, in plain English. That's not an access problem, it's a time-and-attention problem, and it's what we solve.

Is my financial data safe?

Yes. We only ever request read-only access — we can't move money or change your books. Your data is encrypted and stored in the UK, never sold, and never used to train AI models. Read the full detail on our Security page.

How does it connect to my accounts?

You securely connect your accounting software (Xero to start, more coming) with read-only access, and TaxSignal reads your figures to analyse them. You can disconnect any time.

Do I have to enter my figures manually?

No — connecting your accounting software pulls them in automatically. Manual entry is available as a fallback if you're not on supported software.

What does it cost?

Solo £19/mo + VAT and Business £49/mo + VAT. Practice (white-label for accountants) is priced on application — book a demo. Monthly plans include 1 month free; annual Solo/Business plans include 3 months free in the first year.

Can it file my tax return?

Filing directly to HMRC (VAT and Self Assessment) is coming soon. For now, TaxSignal finds and explains your savings so you — or your accountant — can act on them.

Does it do my bookkeeping or produce my accounts?

No. TaxSignal reads accounts you already keep (via your accounting software) and analyses them. It doesn't do bookkeeping or prepare statutory accounts — that's your accountant's job.

Are the savings guaranteed?

No — figures are estimates based on your data, and every finding should be verified before you act, ideally with a qualified professional. TaxSignal is informational and not regulated financial advice.

I'm an accountant — can I use this for my clients?

Yes. Our Practice plan lets firms run TaxSignal across their client book under their own brand (white-label). Book a demo to see it.
